Smoothies!

Smoothies are one of my go-to foods for breakfast. They were also a way for me to get in extra calories when I was struggling to gain/maintain weight. Sometimes, drinking calories is a lot easier than eating them.

Balancing smoothies out with less fruit,  plus more protein and added fats will provide more long lasting energy than your typical smoothie made with lots of fruit and juice.

Media Folder:
COCONUT CINNAMON SMOOTHIE

- 8  oz milk of your choice
- ½ a  frozen banana
- ¼ cup frozen coconut meat
- 2 tbsp almond butter (or your nut butter of choice)
- 1 pitted date (optona, but adds a bit of sweetness)
- Good dash of cinnamon
- 2 scoops of collagen or vanilla or cinnamon protein powder
- Optional: top with your favorite granola

Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender and top with the granola!

Media Folder:
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ORANGE DREAM SMOOTHIE

- 1 frozen banana
- One orange, peel and pith cut off*
- 8 oz coconut  milk, or  milk of choice
- 1 tsp real vanilla
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- ⅛ tsp black pepper (this makes the turmeric more bioavailable)
- Pinch of sea salt
- 2 scoops collagen (optional)

Blend it all in a high speed blender!
* You can also use ½ cup orange juice, but using the whole peeled orange adds fiber.
Remember, one smoothie with turmeric isn’t going to rid you of all inflammation, but it’s a great option to add to your diet.

Mix all in a high speed blender and enjoy. Mix it up by pouring into a bowl and topping with granola, fresh berries, hemp seeds, and shredded coconut!
