Although Deanna is passionate about horseback riding she used her grant to get a gym membership so she could swim more. She learned as a child and young adult through horseback riding just how important staying active and being involved was to living a healthy life. She attributes her healthy younger years to the fact that she was as active as she was. It wasn’t until after she got out of school and stopped being so active that she was hospitalized for the first time. At 47 she could feel herself becoming very isolated, and without a job she knew she could not afford a gym membership on her own. Her membership will allow her to get out of the house and get into an exercise routine that will benefit her both physically and mentally.
