Karen’s Cystic Fibrosis had restricted her from working around others and therefore works from home every day. She was feeling very isolated and inactive and knew she needed to make some changes. She wanted to start doing an activity that would help her with lung function and weight-management, however, being on a tight budget didn’t allow her to do these things. She used her recreation grant to take classes at a Cardio Pulmonary Rehab center at her CF clinic where she could receive individualized attention to focus on improving her lungs and working out. Karen will be able to go to the lung therapy program twice a week, which will help her to not feel so isolated and inactive in her home.
