Kathleen is in her second year of being awarded a CFLF recreation grant for horseback riding. Her first grant was awarded through the Loretta Morris Memorial Fund. She has been able to improve her riding skills as well as her mental health. Being around horses and at the barn are where Kathleen is happiest. Riding horses allows her to clear her mind of all her worries and fears. Since first receiving a grant in 2012 she has had easier access to exercise and therefore has seen a big improvement in her health and less hospital visits. "Riding horses gives me the freedom that athletes must feel on a daily basis. It is blissful mindless freedom and it makes me feel out of the reach of my cystic fibrosis."
