Michael is in his third year being approved for a grant to renew his membership at his local YMCA where he can do one of his favorite activities, swimming. Being able to swim offers Michael another option for helping maintain the physical needs of CF. As well as being compliant with his daily treatments, Michael has found that swimming opens his airways even more. Since receiving his first grant in 2010 Michael has seen an improvement in his lung function scores. "With my PFT scores slightly increasing it will keep me from needing I.V. treatments and that helps me by knowing I have the ability to control my CF."
